Art journal / Urban sketch – Drinking coffee on the beach in pen and watercolor

the other day me and my husband decided to go for a coffee on  the beach..
It was a such a beautiful day and we had a such a beautiful view in front of us
that I couldn’t resist, so I took out my notebook and I sketched the all thing on paper…

Painting with acrylics on canvas

I am so inspired these days..
Today I finished to work earlier and I had some free hours
so I took a small canvas I had, exactly 24x30cm
and I painted this landscape with my acrylic colors..
I wish it was bigger.. Doesn’t matter, next time will be 🙂

Art Journal – painting in pen and watercolor

Maybe I had nothing to show you for the past 10 days
but today I have 2 sketches to post… The yesterday and
the today art journaling..

The yesterday one was an urban sketch, in fact I drew it very very
quickly, waiting in the car for my husband… Don’t really like the building
but there was nothing else to paint in that place, so it’s ok..

And the today art journaling was just a nice idea in my head
I drew in my smaller notebook..

Art journal 1-10-14 in pen and watercolor & homemade leather pen holder

 

After almost 10 days I am here again..
So many days without painting made me depressed.
Today I finally had a little bit of time for myself and of course I took out
my journal and my watercolors to express my welcome to the Autumn
but it seems to me that the long time without painting can be seen in the page..

Maybe it’s just my impression but I think 10 days ago I could made it better.
Doesn’t matter, at least I painted and a little smile appeared on my face ❤

Here it is…

I also had the pleasure to play with some velvety leather I have
and I made a double pen holder for my Traveler Notebook..
I have some more leather remained to make 2 or 3 more pen holders
and if someone is interested I can make and give them
at 6 Euro each + worldwide shipping (5 Euro).

Watercolor notebooks / sketchbooks with painted cover

I am glad I almost finished with the paper testing
for the watercolor notebooks I am going to make..
and thanks to Barbara and Denise, two lovely ladies ❤ who will help me
trying two more kinds of paper, I’ll finish even earlier..

The problem I had in my mind last days was how to make
horizontal notebooks so that they could be inserted in the TN..
So I invented a tray with an integrated elastic which gives me
the possibility to carry the watercolor notebook
in my TN and to paint it in or out of my TN.
I’ll send this tray to Barbara and Denise with their watercolor notebooks
to see if it really suits at this purpose..

Let me show you the two notebooks with deckle edges made by me,
with the cover painted by me in pen and watercolor
and the system with the tray attached to my TN 🙂

Art journal – Watercolor challenge 5 themes/days all in one page and papers

Looking for a Challenge: Sketch a Day or Week

I found this 328 days watercolor challenge..
It’s just perfect especially for those days I want so much to
paint but my mind is so empty that I can’t decide what to draw.

So yesterday I decided to begin with it and the first theme was “draw a shoe”
but then I read the next 4:  “lamp, bag, cup, your bed” and I couldn’t resist
so I put the first 5 themes all together in one art journaling page..
..Do you think It was cheating? 🙂

I used my new watercolor notebook,
the one I showed you in the previous post with the deckle edges..
I am so in love with this paper I found.
You wet the paper as much as you want but it doesn’t change shape at all..
Here is a picture of it..

The color as you can see is not white, it seems more like a light and warm recycled paper
and it has some colored spots here and there..

Me and my husband have a typography so we collaborates with some paper suppliers
and I am testing different papers with watercolors cause it seems so hard to find
a very good watercolor book that at the same time is not so expensive ..
You know, I paint a lot and every art journal page I paint is usually a double page
and I can’t use for all the subjects the same size..
Not all subjects fits well in small and long pages, sometimes I need something
bigger or more squared.. I should spend a fortune in watercolor notebook.

I am sure I am not the only one having this complain
So a project I am thinking of,
is one of these days to make and sell watercolor notebooks at less than 10 Euro
with good papers I found and I use too,
with different kind of binding and sizes and with the cover painted by me..
I personally prefer to have mine sewed with a white twine, it looks more wild I think
but everyone has his preferences..

In any case I still don’t know if I am going to do this..
For the moment it’s just a project under construction..
